Ahirbudhnyan M

Project Fellow

I am deeply passionate about functional ecology, with a specific focus on frugivory and seed dispersal, particularly among secondary cavity nesters. My journey began with a master's dissertation, where I delved into the nesting preferences of Malabar Grey Hornbills and explored their foraging ecology. Subsequently, I joined the Kerala Forest Research Institute, where I worked as a project fellow on biodiversity monitoring within cash crop plantations operated by the Kerala Forest Development Corporation (KFDC).

Currently, I serve as a project fellow at the Centre for Citizen Science and Biodiversity Informatics, Kerala Forest Research Institute. Here, my primary goal is to explore avenues for long-term environmental monitoring through community participation and citizen science initiatives. As a team, we organize capacity-building workshops and develop public outreach programs, all aimed at fostering a deeper connection between people and their environment.

Beyond my professional pursuits, I am an avid science communicator and visual designer. I co-founded Nemophiles , an online conservation education and awareness page in Instagram, where I actively contribute to making science and research more accessible through engaging outreach tactics, including visual storytelling.

In my personal life, I find immense joy in nature photography, videography, and birdwatching. I am an enthusiastic reader of both fiction and non-fiction, particularly drawn to nature writings. My interests also extend to cinematography, video editing, poster design, and charcoal paintings, all of which fill my leisure time.
